I am a firm believer in karma, you know… in doing a good deed and one will come back to you! From Wikipedia: Karma is the universal principle of cause and effect. Our actions, both good and bad, come back to us in the future, helping us to learn from life’s lessons and become better people.
Recently I walked out of a Whole Foods with a bottle of vitamins…my daughter was playing with them (don’t worry they were totally sealed), we were being silly acting like it was a musical instrument, and I TOTALLY forgot to pay for them. I didn’t even realize until we got home that I never paid for them! I felt horrible! The next day I rushed back to Whole Foods with the vitamins and explained at customer service what had happened! They looked SHOCKED that I actually came back to pay for them!
I said “I believe in karma, I knew that if I didn’t pay, I would be struck by lightening or something – ha ha”. The service guy thanked me and I went on my merry way, I felt like a weight was lifted and that I was safe in the world again!
Whether its karma or just about “doing good”, try it the next time you are out and about, try to help someone with a tiny gesture, or be a little more understanding, you never know what is going on in someone’s life when you run into them!
We’ve all had those moments, those days when NOTHING seems to be going our way, and then someone does something totally out of the blue; it could be as little as holding the door open for you, or letting you go ahead of them in the coffee house line, and it puts a smile on your face and changes your whole perspective.
Remember that movie “Pay it Forward”?, the concept of when someone does you a big favor, don’t pay it back, pay it FORWARD. What if we all did that just once a day! Makes your heart feel all warm and fuzzy, don’t it? ;) Happy Thanksgiving!
