It is especially satisfying to help couples and families rediscover their love for each other, and to help those struck by illness or infertility adapt, grow, and rediscover joy. People usually come to therapy because they are in pain. I named my practice “Fulfilling Families” because my goal is to help people through that pain to find fulfillment. I currently have offices downtown and in Wicker Park.

Expect A Miracle

about Dr. Jennifer Mercier:

Dr. Jennifer Mercier’s passion is serving women with fertility issues, pelvic pain, general wellness matters, holistic breast care and newborn/infant craniosacral balancing.

During her undergraduate years she was preparing to attend medical school and at the same time was diagnosed with endometriosis and went to massage therapy school. In the early 90’s she worked as a clinician for the Center for Human Reproduction and learned so many amazing things as well as how broken the system really is with regard to how women are treated with fertility challenges. It started her thinking about the pelvic organs and how could we get this area to work more effectively. Women were undergoing numerous medically assisted cycles, how could this process be less emotionally and physically charging? Years later when she decided not to go to medical school and gave it some thought on how to proceed so she could effectively serve women with fertility challenges in a non-invasive way.

She ultimately decided to go into Midwifery and trained by apprentice in a myriad of different settings such as birth center, home and hospital. Over a span of 15 years she took care of women and their babies in a very gentle and respectful manor.  She also trained as a Naturopathic Doctor and graduated in 2007 from a wonderful program that had to close it’s doors due to low enrollment. Instead of choosing a traditional naturopathic school which focuses on a more medical approach to natural health, she chose one with a curriculum devoted to the study and application of the traditional naturopathic philosophy. This way of thinking enhanced even further her passion about how women’s health and lifestyle have a profound effect on overall wellness and health.

Taking it yet one step further, she decided to study at an even greater level the effect that hormones and environmental chemicals would have on the body by enrolling in a PhD program with a small, private school.

One Way Or A Mother logo

about Jenilyn:

Jennifer “Jenilyn” Gilbert (LCSW) provides fertility and adoption consultations through her business, One Way or A Mother. She works with women who are open to trying to conceive with or without medical intervention and some who are open to exploring third-party reproduction or adoption. They are women who are struggling with worry, sadness, frustration at how long it’s taking and sometimes grief. They are women who are interested in a more mindful approach to creating their family and are interested in learning meditation and other mind/body/spirit tools. She works with women in person or through Skype. In addition, she facilitates seasonal fertility workshops.

Jenilyn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Yoga Instructor. Her entire career has been focused on serving hundreds of clients in the fields of fertility and adoption. Working with women on this journey and living through it herself helps her understand how to reach women in a very personal way.

Fertility IQ logo

about Fertility IQ:

We’re Deb and Jake and we started FertilityIQ to help fertility patients choose the absolute best doctor for them. At FertilityIQ, patients thoroughly assess their doctor, nurse, clinic and billing department. This way new patients can learn the good, and the not-so-good, of every fertility doctor in their area. Every assessment includes the reviewer’s age, diagnosis, fertility history and background, making it easy for you to calibrate their comments. We ask each reviewer to email us a document confirming they went to their clinic, and we ensure everything remains anonymous. If you like the idea, and want to help, we’d love to gather your assessment. Please go to to help out!
